A block headed Palcomix needs heroes explains that after twenty-two years of free updates the site is asking for money, and sets out an unusual arrangement: a recurring membership bought on a separate domain, toon.wtf, is what unlocks Premium here — a gold crown, early access to comics and ad-free browsing — while a one-time $25 donation counts as one membership toward the same goal. Supporters are Heroes; donors are Allies.

Cross-domain memberships are worth noticing wherever they appear, because they put your billing relationship with one company and your access with another. Here it is at least disclosed plainly, by the site, on the way in.

That appeal, an interface offered in English, Spanish and French, and a members' social area with sign-in and registration are as far as this assessment goes. The age gate stands between a first request and the comics themselves, so nothing here speaks to the size, the age or the quality of the catalogue, nor to who draws it. The twenty-two-year figure is the site's own.
