Look at how the sorting works and you will understand what the site is for.

GifHQ offers hottest, newest, random and best-of, and the best-of splits into twenty-four hours, a week and longer. That is a churn feed, not a library. The design assumes you arrive, scroll whatever surfaced since last time, and leave — nobody builds a twenty-four-hour leaderboard for an audience that searches.

The format suits the material. Short looping clips work by immediacy, and a ranked recent feed is a better delivery mechanism for them than a tag tree would be. If you want to find one specific thing, though, this is the wrong shape of site, and no amount of scrolling will fix that.

The same application runs under a second brand name on another domain, with an identical menu down to the ordering. Whether the two feeds carry the same clips is not something the public pages establish, but the machinery is the same.
