A studio with an established roster moving into VR has one advantage over a VR-native operation: it already knows who people want to see.

Naughty America VR shoots virtual-reality scenes with performers from the parent studio's catalogue, sold through a membership with a downloadable library. The site carries a VR performer index and a headset compatibility section, which is the practical part — VR files are device-specific in a way ordinary video is not, and a studio that publishes which headsets it supports saves you discovering the answer after paying.

Downloads rather than streaming are the norm here, and that suits the format. VR files are very large, and buffering inside a headset is a worse experience than buffering on a screen.

The thing to be realistic about is that VR scenes are a different craft from flat ones. Camera position becomes fixed and intimate, the performer plays to a point in space rather than a lens, and a studio's flat-video strengths do not automatically carry over.

A headset is required, not optional. Without one this is unusable, and the membership is separate from the parent studio's.
