The distinguishing claim here is unlimited traffic on the free tier, which is not how free VPNs usually work.

Most of them meter you — a few hundred megabytes a month, then a paywall. Planet VPN advertises unmetered use across six server locations with no registration required, 256-bit encryption and a stated no-logs policy, with apps across the usual desktop and mobile platforms. There is a paid tier with more locations behind it, which is where the money comes from.

Take the no-logs statement for what it is: a policy the provider has written about itself. Nothing on the public pages points to an independent audit of it, and a no-logs claim without third-party verification is a promise rather than a finding. That matters more for a VPN than for most products, because the entire proposition is that you are trusting the operator with everything you stopped trusting your ISP with.

The site carries a substantial set of explainer pages — what a VPN is, proxy types, legality — which are pitched at people who have not used one before.

For getting around a regional block on a tube site, a free unmetered tier is genuinely useful. For anything where being logged would actually harm you, the unverified policy is the weak point.
