Sitting in the navigation are direct get-this-provider links for three of the largest commercial VPN brands. Those are affiliate placements, and they are the business model.

That does not make the reviews worthless, but it decides how to read them. Affiliate VPN comparison is one of the most heavily monetised niches on the web, commissions vary enormously between providers, and the providers paying most are reliably the ones at the top of these lists. A published methodology and a commission structure can coexist; when they conflict, only one of them pays for the site.

The explainer material is genuinely useful for someone who has not used a VPN and does not know what to ask.

Prices shown are the providers', not this site's, and VPN pricing is promotional almost year-round, so a headline figure is a first-term rate rather than what renewal costs.

Use it to build a shortlist. Do not use it to pick a winner.
